Straw Hat Restaurant

The beach is lovely, it is perfect to watch while eating. The food was delicious. My dad and I had was the turkey club and was great! The service was wonderful and it did not take long for the food to get to our table. It is kid friendly and I do recommend it.

My favorite restaurant in Anguilla! My husband and I ended up eating at straw hat four times in nine days on our trip to Anguilla (3x for dinner, 1x for breakfast). We had an excellent experience each time. Highly suggest the Mahi mahi with lemon butter for dinner. I’ll be dreaming of it for months.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Straw Hat restaurant in Anguilla, and I must say, it was a delightful experience. The combination of good food and a welcoming atmosphere made for a memorable evening.

First of all, the view - perfection. Gorgeous turquoise and deep blues tantalize the senses as you sink into pure relaxation, listening to reggae-infused tunes. The friendly, attentive staff only added to the welcoming atmosphere.

Banana Dacquiri - I've had better.

Seafood spring rolls - unfortunately, they were bland. The only flavor came from the accompanying sauce.

Turkey Club - Delicious. Filling and flavorful.

What better way to finish lunch, then walking down to the beach and lounging on a cot, staring out into the blue.

I wanted to take my mom to a special place for breakfast before she flew out, and it happened to be Mother’s Day. We arrived at this place, magnificent view of the water and sky, breeze was nice…and the server asked me if we wanted breakfast for two, to which we answered, “Yes, please. ” We started following the lady, and midway to our seats she stopped, looked at her watch and said, “Oops, sorry, no more breakfast. It’s 11 o’clock. ” We asked if we could get anything at all, even lunch, and she said, “No. ” I don’t know if the lady was new, we were kind of perplexed at them not letting us eat at the place. I guess a supervisor came out and explained that we basically had to wait outside while they cleaned the tables that were being used (not many) and in 30 min we could come back for lunch. I found that to be unbelievably ridiculous. At no point they considered we were about to be seated and the clock turned to 11 on our way to the seats. They should have just given us a seat, offered us whatever menu they could, or just made us wait inside. Anyways, very disappointed with this place and the treatment we received. Don’t care how many 5 starts they have, they can only mess up my mom’s day on Mother’s Day once. On top of that, seeing that we were seemingly aggravated at the situation, on our way out, the apparent supervisor lady kept yelling happy “Mother’s Day” and “Have a great day” which under normal circumstances I would take as an act of politeness, but in this particular one I saw more like trying to ridicule us or adding more salt to the wound. My mom felt the same thing.

Great food and service. You can eat while enjoying beautiful blue beach view. Anguilla is a magical place, no matter where you go there’s beauty all around, and having a meal by Meads Bay can’t be more perfect.

Mixed Experiences. First visit was for lunch. We spent time on the beach and then came up for some drinks and lunch. Service was beyond friendly - super engaging and helpful server. We had the plantain chips (highly recommend), conch fritters (highly recommend) and Big Eye Tuna Flatbread (recommend). Others had the hot dog, burger and Cesar salad. Everyone enjoyed their meal and the service.

Went back with a different group, this time for dinner. Service was lackluster - got the impression they didn't really want to serve us and I have a feeling this wasn't a normal attitude. Looked like they had a very very large table of a family that had way too much to drink and we received the brunt of it. Too bad because service was so exceptional on the prior visit.

For dinner I had the curry goat this time with coconut rice and I really enjoyed it - definite thumbs up from me! Others in the party had the deconstructed eggplant (was OK) and the snapper (just OK as well).

I'd go back again for lunch and drinks anytime and hope that no obnoxious, drunk families are there as well.

We went to Straw Hat for dinner and drinks on our first night in Anguilla. It was walking distance from our hotel on the beach. The food was excellent, the staff were nice, and the view from every table was wonderful looking out at Meads Bay. I had the grilled Mahi Mahi, and it was delicious!

We had a great meal here with awesome service. All of the employees were so friendly and our food was delicious. Drinks and dessert were also great. Must go when in Anguilla.

I was on the island for 10 days, and this was the best meal I had by a mile. I was here for work and got stuck eating at one of the resorts, which was supposedly 5 stars, but this meal blew all 3 resort restaurants out of the water. The pork chop was cooked perfectly, and the braised greens and onions rings added nice saltiness. The aisan salad dressing was well balanced and very refreshing. We also had a slew of appetizers, and each one seemed to be better than the last. All this was topped off with a spectacular view and attentive service. If you come to Anguilla, I highly recommend you stop by here and if I ever find myself back here I will certainly be coming back.

We ate here twice for supper and both meals were top notch with excellent service.

I had the johnycake lobster Benedict. A generous portion of lobster, the cake is like a non-sweetened donut, very tasty. The hollandaise could use more lemon. Service was good, the coffee too weak for my tastes. The view is fantastic, the light tan beach, blue sky & water.

We had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was excellent. My husband and I had fish, very fresh! The owners would walk around and visit with the customers, something you do not see very often anymore! Also, kudos to the merchandiser, they actually had hats and t-shirts!

Overall the atmosphere was great but The bottle of burgundy we ordered (chateauneuf du pape) tasted just like a cheap Malbec from Argentina. The grilled snapper was delicious. I got the grilled plantains and a Caesar salad on the side and those were both delicious as well. The grilled mahi-mahi on the other hand was not as fresh and tasty. The Asian salad was another good choice.

Unfortunately, I don't have a lot of good things to say about the restaurant. I've chosen this place for my birthday. The location (near the beach) is nice, but I wasn't that pleased about the food and drinks. First of all, we ordered cocktails without alcohol and we got some really basic cocktails with can cherries that made the cocktails looked very cheap. After that, the dishes came.my boyfriend chosed the curried goat which was good, but my plate (the only veggie one) was a desaster. The eggplant was not cooked (and it was half of the plate), the rest was a sauce with tomato (not coocked as well) and chikpeas.the all had a taste of "canned ratatouille". It was very disappointing. I noticed the waitress and she just told me "I'm sorry for that" as if it was enough. Al the staff was nice, but too insisting, always asking if we were done (even if the plates were still with food).
The worst came at the end when we had the bill, they charged my plate with a higher price than the one written on the menu. The girl from the staff told she was gonna check it, and she came back as if there was nothing, giving me my money back. I found it very unprofessional, I felt like they treated me like a fool.

To resume, I had good expectations about the plate but unfortunately, I can't recommend it. Food is too expensive for what it is. And if the staff made a mistake on the price and you notice them, they will just do as nothing happened. Bad.

Great location with excellent views! We loved the beach service and had lunch and cocktails a few days in a row. All menu items we tried were very good. As with most beach front restaurants on the island, the bill can be pricey, but this place delivers on the value overall.

Very relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff. Loved the lobster Benedict! Great choices of breakfast food and amoothies.

We dined at Straw Hat last night and all I can say is WOW. It is a must if you are coming to Anguilla.
The food was amazing and you can’t beat the view. The staff were so attentive to our every need. A special shout out to Stephanie who went out of her way to make sure we were well looked after. Great dining experience

Amazing ambiance, they really know how to mix a great cocktail, and the pumpkin soup and seafood pasta were very fresh and filling! Not the cheapest place, but quality of the food and the ambiance more than make up for it. Definitely give this place a visit (if they're not closed for the season lol)
